At Dogs Trust, Christmas is a very busy period for us. Sadly, despite over 30 years of promoting our slogan ‘A dog is for life not just for Christmas’ we do find that some people continue to give dogs as presents only for them to be abandoned in early January when the novelty has worn off.

Our centres are always full to bursting, but the strain is worst at this time of year and we care for over 1,500 dogs through the festive period alone. Dogs like Eric and Ernie. It’s hard to believe that anyone could abandon two such adorable pups but that’s exactly what happened. One night, their owner just left them in a cardboard box in a deserted car park. The cold nearly killed them but luckily they were found in the nick of time and now they are happy, healthy and full of mischief - just like puppies should be!

So far OpinionWorld has raised a whooping £7,500 for Dogs Trust, so paws are crossed that you’ll be able to help us again now. On behalf of all the dogs in our care, thank you for your support this year and we wish you a very Waggy Christmas!
