Target reached, Dogs Trust - Oakfield Oldies

Thank you! We have raised a further £2,500 for Dogs Trust.

They care for over 16,000 stray and abandoned dogs each year at their 17 rehoming centres across the country.

Most dogs find homes quickly but those who need a little extra care are always safe with Dogs Trust, because they never destroy a healthy dog.

They believe that, after all they’ve been through, abandoned dogs deserve the best. Their rehoming centres are designed to the highest standards and each dog receives all the love, care and medical treatment they need.

In addition to their rehoming work, Dogs Trust also tackles the root cause of the stray dog problem through their neutering, education and microchipping campaigns.

Oakfield Old Dogs Home

Due to the success of Sponsor a Dog where OpinionWorld members have raised £5,000 and sponsored 6 dogs, we will also be helping the trust by donating £2,500 to the Oakfield Old Dogs Home.

The Oakfield Old Dogs Home gives elderly or sick dogs who may never find another home the extra comforts that only a home can provide.  Oakfield is a private house adjacent to our Roden Rehoming Centre, in Shropshire.  When you sponsor the Oakfield Oldies a different resident will write to you each time - meet some of the oldies below…

Rosie

I came to Oakfield after my owner passed away. When I first arrived I was sad and confused but my carers, Kerrie and Tracey made me feel so welcome. Now I’m a different dog. I stop and wave (with my tail of course) to everyone I meet.  I have a heart murmur so my carers keep a close eye on me to make sure I don’t over do things but as you can see from my photo, I’m in no danger of that!

Nacho

At 7 years old I’m the youngest Oakfield resident here. I was moved here as I found it hard to settle in kennels. My arthritis tends to play up too and I have a bit of a limp so Oakfield is perfect for an easy-going gent like me. I’m on medication but one sure thing to put a spring in my paws is Flossy, another Oakfield resident. You’ll often find us snuggled up together listening to the radio!

Also keep an eye out for more news, where we'll be updating you about the 6 dogs that we have sponsored in the last campaign: Smudge, Mister Magoo, Harvey, Chad, Podge & Freddie.
