New Charity to support
Help for Heroes have agreed to become a part of our program and in return we will start collecting donations at the end of the surveys in the very near future.
Why not read on to learn more about them and how you can help and support this great ‘National Institution’ through OpinionWorld.
Who are Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes are a charity that supports the wounded in Britain’s current conflicts. Help for Heroes has become, in the words of the Prime Minister, a ‘National Institution’. Since they started up October 2007 they have raised £1 million a month to help support many wounded servicemen and women injured in the current conflicts.
Help for Heroes was the idea of Appeal Chairman Bryn Parry and a group of friends and relations, many of who have connections with serving servicemen and women. Bryn and his wife Emma wanted to do something to help the wounded and came up with the idea of a sponsored bike ride. They mentioned it to some friends who mentioned it to some more friends and suddenly Help for Heroes was born and growing fast. A flurry of visits to various offices led to the campaign being blessed by the head of the army, Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt.
Emma Parry, Co Founder and Managing Director of Help for Heroes Ltd says: “Help for Heroes supports those who have been wounded in Britain’s current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since October 2007 we have raised many millions of pounds to fund specific projects that directly benefit those who have been physically and mentally wounded. Our appeal is strictly non-political; we just want to help and with your support we will ensure that the money raised helps the wounded in a practical way.”

Recent news and events
You may have seen recent events broadcast where Help for Heroes have played a significant part.
Last October the contestants of Simon Cowell’s X Factor sang for the first time on the show Hero by Mariah Carey to support the wounded. Help for Heroes asked that half the proceeds should be shared with the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
By the beginning of November the song had sold 313,244 copies in its first week and stormed its way to the top of the singles chart.
